Quick Verdict: The perfect fusion of masculine and feminine into a musical LSD trip

You cannot find a more openly drug-endorsing Hippie album than this one. A band that hailed from Chile in South America released an album of interest way back in 1970, which capitalised on the spirit of the era, as endorsing illicit drug use was sure to turn some heads and raise eyebrows simultaneously. Very little information is available about the group online; however, this album is undoubtedly a worthy listen today, as the group has achieved some global popularity at the time of writing. Let’s take a listen to this album, sober, of course, and we shall hear if it has any musical historical significance.

1. Somebody To Love begins with thunderous drums and launches into a very Hippie sort of song at hand. Denise Corales sings through this classic song through what sounds like a vocoder of sorts. This is a good start to this album, which sounds like a groovy trip throughout. A fine and interesting song to listen to, the drumming in particular is really fantastic throughout, and just sounds spot on to hear. This is a rather aggressive-sounding piece of music that sounds cool, yet different. A warped and excellent listening experience to hear, this is Hippie central. Good tune, and a glimpse back in time to a groovy era.

2. Erotica begins with some unusual percussion and launches into a sexual and raunchy-sounding song at hand. This is likely to turn on many males out there with some sexually based moaning throughout. This sort of thing was very taboo back in 1970, but it sounded great back then and now as well. It also has some amazing guitar work in the background. The sexual moaning gets louder and more prominent as time goes on, and this sounds very much like the sound of a lady getting it on. Awesome, and very kinky to listen to. It is borderline between lovemaking and sex, just sounding like a lady who needs to get it on, big time. A really awesome tune to listen to and enjoy. Great stuff throughout, and the backing instrumentation is cool and top-notch. Very, very dirty indeed.

3. Rolling & Tumbling is a good take on a Blues Music classic. It sounds glorious and punchy, and is a real listening treat at hand, particularly with the drumming. The vocals are wordless here, and the whole thing sounds different. A really excellent and thematic tune that delivers very nicely. A good version of a classic tune that was covered by Cream and others. The singing and guitars, alongside the punchy and intricate rhythm section, make for a truly excellent listen. A really cool listen, and it doesn’t sound like a traditional Blues song at all. Awesome music to listen to. Very, very good to hear. This has some excellent musicianship throughout it all.

4. Ah Ah Ah Ay begins with some neat woman-tone guitar sound, which is really fantastic. The rest of the group launches into action at hand, just sounding seriously cool to listen to. This sounds very much like a fusion of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin to hear, and there are no vocals throughout. A fine and fantastic song to listen to, in any case. This is a cool tune that meshes bass guitar, guitar and a drum solo into it all very nicely. Very cool, and tripped out as anything you will ever hear. There is a Strawberry Fields Forever-style outro, with elements of sound going in and out of volume. Good work.

5. Crimson & Clover is a 10-minute-long plus instrumental, with vocals and wah-wah guitar to begin with. It sounds very beautiful and majestic throughout, which is really cool. Denise Corales sounds stunning with her singing voice, and even though this music is very much tapping into a niche genre and sort of listening experience, this does sound fantastic. Soon into it, the bass guitar and drums kick into the next section. A really excellent and grandiose-sounding song with multiple instruments and playing galore that is super sweet to hear. The guitars and playing are truly fantastic to listen to, as is the intricate and furious-sounding drumming. A great and interesting listening experience is present at hand, with some neat and awesome guitar soloing on the neck pickup, with some expressive wah-wah guitar leads and tone that is unique. This is one of the better Hippie band jams you can come across. A really sweet and interesting song at hand, with colour, light and shade to it all. If you experience music synesthesia, then you will love this tune. The multiple wah-wah guitars sound absolutely fantastic and incredibly cool as well. This sounds deep, and changes drastically near the midsection, with some treated vocals and playing that is absolutely terrific. A very, very nice tune indeed. This sounds tripped out and really different. The midsection has a glorious sounding Hippie jam section with some particularly pounding drums that sound absolutely and undeniably awesome to listen to. It sounds very vibrant and different. If there is a slight flaw to this song, it is that it has a bit too much wah-wah guitar on it. Despite that, this is an excellent listening experience that has style, character and flair to it all. The drumming and musicianship to match it are all stunningly good to hear. In the second half, this jam becomes very much like a freeform listening experience with a backbeat and groove about it all that sounds absolutely dynamic and fantastic. A truly divine and interesting listen throughout that sounds super cool. A really seismic piece of articulate and intricate beauty, matched with some awesome Psychedelic sounds. Towards the end are treated vocals, and this launches into a conclusion that finalises the fine trip that these guys have made in a musical sense. A great listen, period. Not a dull moment on this extended piece of music. It sounds very, very awesome indeed.

6. Heartbreaker is not Led Zeppelin at all. Instead, it is a good song with a hint of melancholy about it all. This has some heartbreaking vocals that sound really sad and blue indeed. The thunderous drums add to it as well, although this is a song completely different from the rest of the album. Nonetheless, this works incredibly well. This is a tune for the Hippies to listen to if you are lonely and sad on your own. A really cool listening experience that hits heartstrings, even if you are totally high while listening to this album. In any case, there is a loud and punchy guitar solo in the middle of this piece, before the second half of the song launches into an equally mighty instrumental jam that sounds cool. This has many changes with the guitars in particular, with some neat arpeggio playing. A winner of a song about being used and abused in the name of love. It is a bit of a tearjerker tune in some ways, although the furious musicianship makes it sound glorious as well. Towards the end is a different-sounding instrumental solo, before the singing returns at hand. A great song to listen to from beginning to end. Very awesome. The ending is truly superb, with chaotic guitars and crashing drums.

7. Blues On The Westside is a direct reference to the West Coast of the USA. This is indeed a very accomplished Blues Music-based tune with some searing lead guitar that sounds really cool and smooth to listen to. This tune is a six-minute-long piece, but it does sound really great throughout. The playing and performance throughout is stunning, even for an instrumental of this sort. A really lovely listening experience that has some vocals eventually enter, sung in your typical Blues fashion by Denise Corales, which are absolutely fantastic to listen to. This does sound absolutely wonderful and is a perfect listening experience if you love LSD and Blues styled music. A really sensationally good listen, particularly with the interaction between the vocals and the guitars. A truly mindblowing listening experience that leads into a fantastic guitar solo section in the second half of the song. There is some awesome and unique Fender-style guitar playing that is very frenetic. It seems that Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin had some serious competition at hand. A truly awesome listen that is very sweet and rewarding if you can sit through a six-minute-long Blues Music classic. A really excellent and great listen that you can go back to, time and time again. It has a dynamic and dramatic conclusion with some excellent drumming and vocals to tie it all together. A great song that finishes fantastically. Top.

8. Waterfall begins with crashing drums and launches into a very unusual yet distinctive Surf Rock-sounding piece of music. It really sounds fantastic, although the repetitive vocals are quite annoying. Even so, this is a genuinely majestic and exciting listen throughout. The music and performance are good, nonetheless, and this music sounds seriously cool for what it is. A sweet and pretty song, for all its flaws, this does sound cool for what it is, although the repetitive chorus is really not that good. There is a guitar solo section in the second half, which is very cool. All in all, the music present is mostly good, even for a weaker track. It slows down gradually towards the end, before launching into a chaotic-sounding finish.

9. Evol is an eight-minute-long piece with crashing cymbals, fuzz guitar and other wacky sounds, namely the vocals at hand. It is a very strange tune at hand, with some strange vocals to hear, mixed in with Hippie motifs and lyrics about everyone making love. All in all, this is quite cool music to hear, and the vocals from Denise Corales steal the show. This quickly leads into a simple and reflective-sounding piece of music with bass guitar, clean electric guitars and sweet vocals galore. The vocals are saturated in reverb and delay, just sounding really fine and sweet. A really cool tune is present at hand, with repeated vocal mantras about everyone making love, over and over again. A sweet and lovely listen throughout, although it is rather simplistic for this sort of music vocally. The drums and guitars in particular sound very impressive, leading up to a fantastic and interesting climax towards the middle of it all. It sounds ridiculous, but it is intentionally so. The vocals sound like sirens at various points as well. This launches into a percussive, heavy and interesting listen in the second half, which is both beautiful and awesome to hear. Both men and women alike will find some grand appeal in this music. Some fuzz guitar with palm muting then enters, followed by a thunderous and glorious music section at hand. All in all, this is a really fine and powerful tune that is likely designed for Hippies to make love to, indeed. The repetitive mantra returns towards the end, with some Soul Music styled vocals to express this section of the song. Nonetheless, this music does sound really fantastic to listen to. Following it is a combined mantra of vocals and guitars galore, matched with powerful drums. This song is a bit ordinary, but it is still listenable. It wraps up with some gloriously loud guitar shredding and powerful drums. A good finish to a song that could have been bettered.

10. I Wonder Who begins with some backwards guitars and the rest of the band playing along nicely. Some interesting ghostly vocals enter, and this song gets going nicely. This is more poppy than anything else, but it still retains its power, glory and uniqueness throughout. This music is very nice, even though this album seems to run a little out of magic towards the end. The backwards guitar solos are extremely nice to hear regardless. A seriously awesome tune at hand, about finding a lover next door. A really sweet and lively song that makes up for its Pop nature with some interesting sounds and musicianship. It ends with some far-out electric guitars, which are weird.

11. Aguaturbia begins with some pounding kick drums, loose acoustic guitars and sounds really sweet. It launches into a sweet and pretty tune with Spanish singing at hand. It is a definitive song by the group, sounding refreshingly mellow. People from Chile and/or South America in particular will love this song. It sounds really dramatic for what it is. This finishes up a surprisingly noteworthy album on a high note at hand. Simple, short and sweet to listen to. It ends with the simple kick drum beat.

This is a much better album than expected. Even though it is imperfect in its own way, it is very much a classic album release that deserves to be heard more often by many out there. It combines female and male forces perfectly into a wonderful Rock Music fashion that is Psychedelic, enjoyable and energetic. Should you listen to this album? Give it a shot if you like the idea of Psychedelic Rock that has female vocals, but avoid it if you love Metal.
