Quick Verdict: The sound of Oasis returning to defeat all doubters

Oasis fever is on the rise, ever since the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher, put their differences aside in 2024 after splitting chaotically back in 2009. They have managed to launch a massive world tour in 2025, which has been a resounding success by all accounts. Along the way, some of their important albums have been remastered and reissued for their fans to enjoy, alongside EP releases featuring recordings from their latest tour. This is one of them, which contains four tracks for fans to hear the group taken from their live tour. In any case, this EP is going to be worth hearing, so let’s take a listen and hear what the band have been up to.

1. Bring It On Down (Live from Edinburgh, 9 August ’25) launches into it with crowd cheers, and has Liam introducing the song with the pounding drums following and the iconic guitar riffs playing along as well. This sounds really great. Noel Gallagher’s custom Gibson Les Paul sounds great. Unfortunately, Liam’s singing is definitely not the greatest. Still, this is a praiseworthy effort by the group, even though Liam Gallagher’s voice is quite clearly gone. Noel plays the guitar solo like a real maniac, however, and the crowd claps along furiously fast in the breakdown. Oasis fans will enjoy this tune, even if the singing is atrocious, which it is. To be fair, Liam Gallagher has not been able to sing properly since 2000, if you go back through YouTube history. All the same, the outro is fantastic and just sounds top-notch. Let’s hope that the Gallagher brothers hold it together from now on. Great in its own way.

2. Little By Little (Live from London, 2 August ’25) begins with some strange, faded-in sounds and the sound of the crowd. Drumsticks clack, and this mighty tune gets underway. Noel Gallagher sings this one, and he sounds really spot on after all these years. A great listen, and this is a mighty and monumental tune with the crowd singing along at various points. This is absolutely fantastic listening, and one can hear that, at last, Oasis are well and truly back in action. “True perfection has to be imperfect, I know that sounds foolish, but it’s true…” is a fantastic song lyric, and this song is a really great one. Noel and Liam Gallagher, along with the rest of Oasis, do genuinely care about all of their fans. One can hear that indeed, these guys are truly legendary in their own way. The guitar solo section is sweet as well. Noel Gallagher sings with passion and energy. One can thank Bonehead for making this all happen, which he totally deserves. All in all, this song is a fantastic live listen. Awesome stuff, the outro is monumental. Very, very good to hear. A wonderful tune.

3. Cigarettes & Alcohol (Live from Manchester, 11 July ’25) begins with a guitar volume swell and launches right into the iconic riff, with the rest of the band following. This music then gets grooving, and Liam sings this one, once again. His voice, again, has seen better days. Despite this, if you can look past all that, this is genuinely great to listen to. It is certainly interesting listening, even if the singing is rubbish by most Rock standards. Noel Gallagher plays a mean guitar solo, with Liam thanking the crowd for their Biblical moshing. This song makes you want to dig through Definitely Maybe (1994) and blast it at full volume to annoy your neighbours. All in all, this may not be as solid a listening as early Oasis, but hey, these guys are back and not going away any time soon. The guitar solo is absolutely magnificent, and it is a really fun listen to this day. This music is truly iconic and sounds lively and supercharged. This is a really cool version of it, if you can look past Liam’s less-than-good singing. Liam mocks some Manchester United fans at the end.

4. Slide Away (Live from Cardiff, 4 July ’25) begins with crowd chanting “Oasis!” before the song, before Noel Gallagher plays the opening riff and the band gets in action. This launches into a raw and rocking version of the song. Liam sings semi-reasonably on this tune, and one can admire the energy and passion that the group has. One can be so excited by this that you can literally cry with happiness that, yes, these guys are finally back together after over a decade of frosty relations. Nonetheless, this is a very good listen at hand. The music is nicely played and well-rehearsed. Oasis really wanted to show their fans that the wait was worth it. The guitar solo section is very rocking and pretty simultaneously. This is an EP release that should move and sway you. If you have not explored Oasis yet, you should definitely check out the delights of their 1990s works, which were a massive game-changer in the world of music. In any case, the combination of guitars, vocals and firm drumming should delight most Oasis fans. A tremendously supercharged and wonderful effort throughout, which has a gorgeously dramatic edge. The outro in particular is memorable, with a different set of vocals from the album version. Nonetheless, this is a good listen. Certainly worth it if you love Oasis, even though they have sounded better in the past. Not to worry, this is worth it. The guitar solo instrumental section at the end is very neat. It ends with a load of crowd cheering and mission accomplished.

This is not the greatest Oasis has ever sounded. However, having said that, this is a genuinely good live effort that proves that Oasis are well-loved, and their music is definitely enjoyable. If you want a good listen to what to expect on their tour, this is a great starting point for all that. Even so, should you listen to this EP? Yes, if you are an Oasis fan, but if you want to hear Liam Gallagher at his best, then you may wish to avoid this.
