Before there was such a thing as shred guitar, there was a legendary guitarist named Django Reinhardt. Although he was known as a Gypsy Jazz guitarist, it is also accurate to state that he was a major pioneer of the guitar in general, in particular with his works with the Quintette du Hot Club de France, which he formed with violinist Stephane Grappelli. After a life-altering incident involving a huge amount of burns and damage to the fretting fingers of his ring and pinky finger on his fretting hand, he managed to develop his own style of guitar playing that was truly phenomenal.
