Little is known about Blue Amazon. Creating a good mixture of Techno, House, Tech-House and Progressive EDM, Lee Softley (birth name) made some killer bangers back in the 1990s. These days he is busy with remixing classic tunes for names much bigger than him. However, he did release this album back in 1997. It features some moderately commercially successful hits such as No Other Love. With an open mind and appreciation of an overlooked form of music, let’s jump back in time and listen to this album and we hope it sounds as great as promised today.

And Then The Rain Falls – Album Edit features Vicky Webb on vocals, yet again and runs for nearly 14 minutes. It launches into a minimal yet awesome Techno-styled musical vibe, which is really killer to listen to and dance along to. This sounds amazing and is a redeeming listen if you don’t have the patience for 10-minute-long plus songs in most cases. It sounds driven, interesting and intelligent for this kind of music. A great listen, it never wears out one’s ears even with this length of time. Nonetheless, this sounds extremely cool to hear. Vicky Webb’s vocals are really excellent throughout, and this music is a melodic yet powerful listen. This is very much Progressive House Underworld-based territory here if you can understand the context of this sort of music. Nonetheless, it does sound very, very good to listen to. A really awesome tune to hear, although by this point of the album, the lengthy and repetitive nature of the music is likely to drive some out there nuts whilst listening to it. In any case, this does sound really sweet and smoothly melodic throughout. A cool and interesting listening experience. The cut-up vocals and repetitive melodies are very, very good and memorable throughout. This music is perfect for when you need a good dose of looped EDM that has some sustained and interesting energy throughout. Towards the midsection is the chorus throughout, and the music has a large amount of consistent changes throughout. In any case, this is good but the appeal of the album wears off by this point with this rather repetitive music. It changes in the midsection to something better and more groovy and minimal throughout. Some robotic squelches come through which sound really different. The second half has some cruising yet rather repetitive musical loops that sound really good. This gets into headbanging territory musically here and sounds absolutely wonderful throughout. A cool tune, this definitely demands sunglasses to be worn upon listening to it. A great tune, even if it goes on for what seems like years. Nonetheless, this is a great effort in a musical sense. A really great and fine listen to that sounds absolutely wonderful provided you can sit through such a long listen. It has some rather Trance Music like melodies as we gradually approach the end of this tune. Very nice to hear, although this gets rather boring by this point to listen to. In any case, this is great music to play in the background whilst busy with something, as opposed to being in the foreground. Towards the end, the beats finish and the looped, ethereal melodies continue on to conclude this track gradually, and the album itself as well. A good but long listen, this has some pretty and different sounds that are absolutely gorgeous. This wraps up and concludes a long album listening experience and a very long track with the sound of rain and thunder.
This album is a good album to listen to but does not reach great album status due to its rather absurdly long running time. With the average song being over 10 minutes long, this is difficult to get through for most listeners. However, having said that the music is sweet and variable enough to enjoy in certain circumstances. However, it is only worth hearing once in a blue moon, rather than regularly. Should you listen to this album? Yes if you like repetitive EDM, no if you prefer a more variable mash-up of music other than beats and textures.
Almost there.
