By this point in his musical career, Rob Zombie had firmly established his immortal presence as a Metal making guru and a great presence in the music industry in general. Funnily enough, this compilation was released early on in Rob Zombie’s solo career and serves a purpose for that time. It covers a wide variety of material from his early days as a musician onwards and should be interesting to hear. It is an interesting historical piece and important as well, so without any hesitation, let’s hear it.

Thunder Kiss ’65 is the first track from this compilation. It begins with palm-muted riffing and quickly has drums and bass guitar enter tunefully. It isn’t the greatest Rob Zombie tune out there, to begin with. The guitars present are fantastic, however, with expressive wah-wah guitar solos and playing that is excellent. This is a good song but sounds like a poor quality recording from Rob Zombie and crew in their White Zombie days. This, however, is fairly forgivable. There is a bit of a breakdown section with recorded voices, which are very different. There is a mock police siren, followed by manic screaming and some rather ordinary guitar solos. This isn’t as good as it could be. Still, it is listenable but just not listenable enough. This is a White Zombie piece that Rob Zombie himself wrote, but even so, it sounds like a demo recording. Effort wise, this is good but it is not good enough in retrospect. It ends with squealing guitars.

Black Sunshine is another White Zombie era tune featuring Iggy Pop, famous as the frontman of The Stooges. It begins with some weird guitar noises, followed by some whammy bar styled sounds and some warped electronic sounds to match it. Some sweet and deep bass guitar enters, followed by fast drumming. This launches into an awesome listening experience that is incredibly wonderful and fun to listen to. White Zombie was just as good as Rob Zombie’s solo career in many ways, and Rob Zombie sings much better on this song than before it. This is a Classic Metal tune that is played and executed very nicely in this musical context. A furiously passionate and cool tune to listen to, the guitars here are fantastic and excellent to listen to. This sounds a lot like 1980s Metallica to be fair, but has its own vibe and musical greatness about it. Rob Zombie sings gloriously here about some hellish concepts at hand. A lively, furious and devilish sounding tune, this is a great continuation of the concepts of Heavy Metal, going all the way back to Black Sabbath. There is a guitar solo section where there are voice samples that are different. This is a really sweet and awesome song to listen to, and there are some great twists and turns throughout. The outro is very insane in a good way, and Rob Zombie growls nicely to finish up this track. Decent.

Feed The Gods begins with powerful sounding drums and synchronised guitars to match this tune. Again, this is a White Zombie tune but it sounds amazing and fantastic to this day. It eventually launches into some amazing screaming by Rob Zombie, before leading into a great and manic Metal piece that is truly awesome. It is quite clear that White Zombie was an accomplished band, and songs like these prove that. The thunderous guitars, punchy drumming and truly awesome vocals by Rob Zombie are fantastic and out of this world. It sounds like a proto version of Superbeast, which was on Rob Zombie’s first solo album. The musicianship on this song is really insanely good. If you are religious, you may want to avoid the offerings on this album. If you are not, then you will truly enjoy this music. There is a breakdown in the beginning of the second half which sounds really amazing, followed by an excellent guitar solo that verges on feedback. The guitar riffs are excellent and are among some of the best riffs you will ever hear in your life. The guitar solo resumes and this piece sounds super quirky as a result. A truly great listen, this is a legendary tune. Interesting music with some dark and satanic lyrics, this is not for those of you who dig radio ready Pop music. A very awesome tune to listen to. Wonderful.

More Human Than Human begins with some interesting electronic liquid keyboard playing, which is super cool. It launches into a porno film sample of a lady (which is very explicit, just so you know), which sounds very realistic, along with some percussive sounds and launches quickly into a piece with some strange slide guitar that is played in a different way, but still sounds good and makes sense. This breaks down into a bass guitar and drum groove, followed quickly by some decent vocals from Rob Zombie which show his singing and musicianship progressing nicely by this point. Nonetheless, this sounds really cool and awesome to hear. The chorus in particular is extremely catchy and very much a mosh pit style listen. Nonetheless, a quirky yet fantastic listening experience. The music present is influenced by the Metal of the past but does point ahead to the future in terms of what would be expected in a musical sense. In any case, this is a great listening experience that sounds excellent, even in today’s postmodern digital world. A really awesome tune to listen to and enjoy, it is simply a great headbanging tune to listen to. Fine, fun and fantastic, Rob Zombie showed that even early on in White Zombie he could Rock. An excellent tune, it ends with a fade out of the keyboard patch from the intro. Awesome.

Super Charger Heaven begins with some eerie electronic sounds that are spooky and suspenseful. A film sample about the nature of supernatural things is present, and then the song quickly launches into a wonderful Heavy Metal tune that is really fantastic to listen to. The guitars in particular are a standout point, showcasing a Metal side of life that many should hear. A fantastic tune to listen to, this sounds aggressive, fun, furious and satanic. In other words, this is top-notch music that still stands tall today. This is Metal for those of you who dig Metallica, and horror imagery and want a taste of something deeply evil, but excellent in the process. There is a breakdown in the second half of the song, with pounding drums, brief guitar parts and some horror film based samples, before returning to the amazing song at hand. Really great and cool, this is exactly how heavy music should sound. A very underrated and fine listening experience. Mint.

I’m Your Boogieman begins with some wah-wah guitar, Doctor Who style digital bleeps and some Acid House based melodies. This is very different to anything before it on this compilation. It quickly launches into an interesting tune with watery vocoder vocals, deep Metal riffing and some interesting electronic sounds throughout. A powerful, interesting and lively listen, this is another classic piece that Rob Zombie made come alive in the days of White Zombie. Fantastic listening musically, this is a winner. The music present is just quirky, but it makes perfect sense to the Metal loving listener out there. There is a great breakdown with some awesome drumming and some funky sounding vocals, just as some extra electronic sounds and reversed drumbeats are thrown into the mix. The song launches back into the catchy chorus and sounds really great. Despite the fact that this song cover have been better without the treated vocals, it still works wonders for the listener. Undeniably awesome and catchy, the screams throughout are very animated. It finishes up with more wah-wah guitar riffing, before fading out. Sweet.

Hands Of Death (Burn Baby Burn) features Alice Cooper. It begins with a chiming clock, which repeats. Hi-hats quickly enter here, along with some ghostly electronic sounds. Soon enough, Heavy Metal riffs enter and this tune gets kicking along nicely. This is a great sonic montage. Crunchy Metal guitar riffs enter and this piece sounds phenomenal. Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper duke it out for the centre stage here on vocals, and this is a classic song, without a doubt. All in all, this is a brilliant listening experience that makes perfect sense to fans of Rob Zombie. A great and animated listen, this is not dissimilar to the works of Nine Inch Nails on this tune in a sonic sense. An intermission with a crying baby is here, followed quickly by a crowd chanting led piece with guitars and samples galore. Again, this is superb Metal music that warrants one’s attention. Really awesome music, this is definitely underrated, even by fans of both Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. This could have been mixed a bit better though. It ends with electronic bleeps.

The Great American Nightmare features legendary presenter Howard Stern. It begins with more creepy electronic sounds and female orgasm sexual sounds. It quickly launches into a great mixture of EDM and Metal, which Rob Zombie is well known for exploiting. Rob Zombie sings excellently on this song, sounding good and original rather than simply a James Hetfield imitator that he sounded like early on. This is a fantastically enjoyable and anthemic tune with explicit lyrics, roaring guitars, great drumming, and extraordinary bass playing and continues on smoothly and nicely. This obviously mocks the so-called American Dream of Capitalism, guns and the like. The second half has an awesome breakdown with some grisly references to necrophilia and other satanic things. This is not light-hearted, easygoing Pop, for the record. Despite that, this sounds fantastically made and is a really great tune. The profanities throughout are really awesome. A very great listening experience. Worth your ears.

Dragula is Rob Zombie’s biggest solo hit to date. It begins with eerie electronic sounds and a voice stating, “Superstition, fear and jealousy”. It launches into fantastic drum beats and an equally fantastic sounding rhythm section. Guitars eventually enter, and this piece comes nicely alive. Rob Zombie sings in a fantastic way, and he absolutely rocks. When the chorus hits, you will be banging your head away nicely. It is an instant classic to listen to, and Rob Zombie sounds truly awesome here. The verses have some animated lyrics, chugging Metal guitars and sounds that are absolutely amazing. The chorus is absolutely infectious and just sounds really top-notch musically. With direct references to sex, fast cars and satanic imagery, this is absolutely brilliant music to listen to. A true hit of the 1990s, this is a must hear from this compilation. For those of you who do not know, a Dragula is a famous speed car. Nonetheless, this ends nicely with interesting electronic sounds and Rob Zombie roaring away nicely on vocals. Fantastic song.

Living Dead Girl begins with some electronic drum beats, and a killer vocal sample and launches into a down-tuned and very evil sounding song. Musically, this is an absolute winner, once again. “What are you thinking about?” indeed. Rob Zombie sings some twisted, evil, demonic and satanic lyrics throughout. The chorus is very uplifting and singalong here. Rob Zombie had many excellent songs in his back catalogue, and this song is a great proof of this fact. A fantastic song, turning religious people into Atheists upon serious listening. There is a bunch of Indian vocal and musical samples in the intermission, before this tune returns to its glorious verses. A great tune that makes sense if you ever rejected religion, particularly Christianity. The climax towards the end is undeniably fantastic. Great, great song.

Superbeast begins with some warped and static sounding electronics, before launching straight into a powerful and anarchic sounding piece of music. The guitar riffs and warped electronic lead the way, followed by awesome singing by Rob Zombie. A powerful, mighty and muscular listening experience, Rob Zombie delivers an iconic and career defining song that sounds great and makes one wish to go absolutely mental hearing it. The verses have some of the darkest imagery in Metal music out there, but the electronic Pop sensibilities also bring this tune alive. A really excellent and thoroughly great listening experience, it never gets old to hear this particular tune. Towards the end, this gets nicely layered and sonically powerful. A really great tune, and something worth your ears. Fantastic.

Feel So Numb is not Linkin Park, just in case you were wondering. It begins with some Spanish movie samples, followed by some manic laughing. This is followed by Rob Zombie singing nicely, before launching into another Metal monster that deserves your ears to listen to. This is a great listen from the start, and the breakdown throughout is impressive and syncopated nicely with the vocals and guitars. This is much more Pop oriented than previous cuts on this compilation and has some sex samples as well. All the same, this is another really great and classic tune to listen to. Tremendously wonderful and powerful to hear, Rob Zombie sings about the experiences of drug use. This is Metal, after all. The second half has some interesting samples and excellent guitar playing, followed by more great singing by Rob Zombie. A fantastic listen, although this is almost like a sell-out compared to earlier material in his long music career. Great tune regardless, this works exceptionally well. Good to hear.

Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy) begins with some interesting vocal samples, before quickly launching into an unusual piece of melodic Poppy music. This is a strange twist of musical events, especially for Rob Zombie. The chorus is more Metal, however, and is extremely wonderful and catchy throughout. This is Rob Zombie experimenting in music, essentially. Still, this is another winner of a tune that sounds really awesome and killer. The guitars are very good, although this does sound like Rob Zombie selling out here. Which is both good and bad for his audience. Still, it lacks the amazing consistency of White Zombie. Good, all the same, and it fits well on this compilation. Quite a crowd pleasing tune, really.

Demon Speeding begins with some interesting electronic sounds and some warped voice samples that sound satanic. This is definitely odd and weird. It quickly launches into an excellent symphonic Metal piece that is really great to listen to and sounds rifftastic. This is no doubt one of the better Rob Zombie pieces in retrospect, and this has a huge amount of suspense throughout. A really loud, loveable and electrifying listen, there are strings in this piece as well. An excellent, catchy and symphonic Metal tune, this is a must-have for fans of Metal music and Rob Zombie out there. This is an animated listening experience and sounds absolutely awesome. The tune eventually launches into a warped guitar solo, before the chanted lyrics and verses return by surprise. This is one of the best-ever Rob Zombie pieces out there. A fine, fun and fantastic listen, this is a grandiose Metal hit. Worth your ears.

Brick House 2003 oddly features Lionel Ritchie and Trina. It begins with Trina moaning sexually and launches into a strange and sleazy tune that is obviously about sex. This is not exactly what one needs to hear at this point, and it sounds just like a parody of Rob Zombie and Disco music. Entertaining, but not exactly what you should seriously listen to as a fan of Rob Zombie. Lionel Ritchie’s cameo appearance on this tune is just plain weird. Trina’s cameo appearance is beyond terrible, and this tune is obviously junk. Please skip this tune if you can, it is annoying listening. Self-parody and not good listening. The sexual moans throughout are entertaining, however.

Pussy Liquor begins with squealing feedback and a drum and bass guitar heavy groove. This is awful, from the start. It seems like Rob Zombie was running out of musical steam by this point. The piano, raspy vocals and instrumentation here are just really terrible to hear. This is definitely not a good listening experience and it shows that this compilation was probably a money spinning exercise by Rob Zombie. Just ordinary, this is a far cry from the works of White Zombie earlier on in this compilation. A real drag, this is not a highlight here. Overly repetitive and terrible listening, the vocal samples do not help this tune along, either. Really terrible, this is not worth your time or listening efforts. Skip this song, if you can.

Blitzkrieg Bop is an edited Ramones cover. It begins with some guitar feedback and pounding drums, quickly launching into a truly awesome version of this classic song. The Metal riffs and playing are really fantastic and supercharged. Rob Zombie shows the world that he can Rock in more ways than one. This sort of tune is likely to inspire anyone who is aspiring to be a Metal shredder out there. A great alternative to the original tune, this sounds loud, warped and interesting to hear. A really cool Metal guitar solo is here in the second half, before the rest of the headbanging inducing tune returns. Really fantastic to hear, worth your ears. The outro is superb, with pounding drumbeats and chanting. Excellent.

Two-Lane Blacktop begins with some very AC/DC sounding guitar riffs, quickly launching into a good piece of music that is reasonable, but not phenomenally great. In any case, this compilation does burn out a bit towards the end of it. Still, this is a reasonable listening experience that sounds energetic and different. Powerful, interesting and quirky, there is a musical interlude with female vocals chanted, before this returns to the main section of the song. In the second half of this tune is a brief guitar solo that disappears quickly, before this average tune continues to roll along. This is fairly forgettable, although it is not terrible.

Girl On Fire begins with a whole load of Electronic sounds and DJ scratching. This is far more digital and different than anything else Rob Zombie had done yet, by this point. He sings wonderfully and powerfully in this song, and this makes a bit of a break in the trend of his music. An incredibly joyous and awesome listening experience that is heavy, grooving and top-notch, this concludes a decent compilation fairly well. There is morse code present as well gurgling away in the background. Weird, wonderful and Metal that is excellent, Rob Zombie certainly leaves an impression upon the listener. This sounds supercharged, wonderful and energetic throughout. Rob Zombie was just getting started musically here, and his solo career is still ongoing to this day. A good song that is warped and wonderful, it finishes up after a repeated chorus and concludes well here.

This is a good compilation that seems awkwardly timed in turns of its release date. Despite that, this is mostly very good to hear musically but the material gets very patchy towards the end. This is fairly forgivable, however. Rob Zombie has covered much ground in a decades long musical career and still sounds impressive to this day. Should you listen to this compilation? Yes, if you love Metal and Rob Zombie in particular, otherwise this may not be for you. Decent overall, however.

A great mesh of historical Metal music.
