Otto Knows is a Swedish DJ, tunemaker and producer. He has had a fairly lengthy career, spawning many EDM based club hits. Given that the rise in Electronic based music has occurred in the 21st century, this is something worth paying attention to. This single EP release is a legendary one back from 2012, and was popular enough to hit the top spot of the charts in places around the world, including the UK. Let’s take a quick listen to this EP, and we can hope that it is worth paying attention to.
Million Voices – Radio Edit is the key song on this EP. It begins with cymbals, an unforgettable melody and keyboard sounds that are truly fantastic. One can instantly hear why this tune was a big hit. It is the perfect listen for EDM clubheads that sounds like one of those anthems for the wild times. A simple 4/4 beat-driven piece that sounds really awesome, this is a legendary tune. For anyone out there who hasn’t taken Ecstasy before and danced with their friends, this is the perfect tune to hear for that. Unbelievably awesome, this is one of the greatest releases of its kind. The melody and tune itself are so good that you will never forget it. A really cool, groovy and fantastic piece that is only over three minutes long, this should be the staple of any DJ set to this day. Absolutely brilliant.
Million Voices – Extended Original Mix begins with some interesting beats and stereo-panned textures. This goes on for some time. Soon enough, a lengthy part of the main melody enters in that sounds really superb and fantastic. It builds up magically and suspenseful, with a great mixture and creation of electronic melodies. Eventually, the main section of this tune kicks in, and we continue banging our heads or dancing away to this fantastic piece of music. All in all, this is wonderfully, beautifully crafted and absolutely brilliant. There are a bunch of awesome sounds throughout to support the main melody, such as firm drum beats, interesting Acid based melodies and other neat production with textures. There is a breakdown near the middle with some interesting and suspenseful warm washes of sound before the main melody resumes here. A very fantastic tune to hear, if you don’t smile at this, nothing will make you smile. In the second half, the breakdown concludes and this continues in a very interesting and continuous fashion of the main section of the song. This version is likely better than the radio edit, and it is something that you need to throw onto a Spotify playlist. Towards the end, this becomes more minimal but still retains its energy and excitement. Otto Knows, indeed. A truly awesome listen for an EDM tune, this eventually concludes with an extended minimal section to be thrown into DJ mixes, before finishing nicely. Great.
Million Voices – TORN Remix begins with some beats and sounds reminiscent of The Chemical Brothers, which is a bit different. This goes on for some time and launches into a strange remix of the original tune. This sounds rather odd, but it is supposed to do so. In any case, this music continues on nicely for some time, and this changes into a rather Acid House based piece, with a bunch of eclectic musical elements thrown into this piece. It also has a bit of Dubstep edge here as well. Nonetheless, this is a really cool tune as well, although it perhaps lacks the energy and excitement of the original tune. It goes into a strange cyber breakdown that is really nice, different and quirky, with some Funk inspired bass here as well. All in all, an unusual remix for those of you who dig such a thing. A really excellent remix that complements the main tune. There is a heavy organ based breakdown in the middle here before the main melodies return here to support this piece. Some interesting edits follow, with a percussive version of the main melody. Pretty cool, all the same. A really thoroughly cool remix, this is another great way to remember this stellar tune. It returns into the unusual Dubstep based breakdown, sounding super cyber and really awesome. An excellent listening experience, this is definitely worth your time. A very electronic and wonderful remix, it ends with a more Acid House based progression towards the end. Awesome from start to finish, this eventually gets more minimal in the outro, as it is incorporated for DJ sets. Brilliant.
This is a must-hear for any fan of EDM based music, especially for those of you who love House music. Although this is merely a single, it is a life-changing listen. It is the best example of MDMA based drugs set to music. But, more importantly, it is a timeless classic that you will never forget upon hearing. So yes, without question, you should listen to this. It is an anthem for life.
Outstanding.
